Ginger Soy Steamed Fish

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole snapper or branzino fish

  • 2 inch ginger

  • ½ cup chicken stock

  • 1 TBSP sugar

  • 1 TBSP Chinese cooking wine

  • 2 TBSP light soy sauce

  • 1 TSP sesame oil

  • Salt (to rub fish)

  • Cilantro (to garnish)

Instructions:

  • The fish will be steamed in a delicious sauce. To create the sauce, mix together:

    • ½ cup chicken stock

    • 1 TBSP sugar

    • 1 TBSP chinese cooking wine

    • 2 TBSP light soy sauce

    • 1 TSP sesame oil

  • Peel and chop ginger into matchstick-size pieces

  • Dry fish by patting it with a paper towel on both sides

  • Cut three slits on each side of the fish

  • Rub salt in and around the fish

  • Place the fish into low bowl

  • Cover the fish with chopped ginger

  • Pour the sauce over the fish

  • Steam fish for approx. 8-10 minutes

  • Garnish with cilantro
